How to Tell if a Girl Is Flirting With You

Ever wonder if that girl is flirting with you, or you were just imagining it? Well here is a list of giveaways that both girls and guys have collected over the years from firsthand experience. Note that all girls are not the same! These signs are common flirting signs for girls between the ages of 10 to 18. (Please note that playfully displaying your sexual attraction, the dictionary definition of flirting, may not be appropriate with children under 16.) Women aged 18 and over usually exhibit different cues when flirting.

Part 1 of 3: Reading Body Language

   1. Look at the position of her feet.If a girl comes and sits down, look at the position of her feet; this could give away what she is focusing on. If her feet are pointed directly at you, that's a good sign! Don't worry too much if her feet are pointing in another direction.
   While her feet pointing at you might mean she's getting ready to flirt with you, feet pointed away doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't like you. This is not an either/or scenario. She can still like you and not have her feet pointed in your direction.

3. 2. Pay attention to her speech. If she is talking slowly, or abnormally fast, it's a sign that she is pretty nervous. This is good news for you, because you may be the source of her nervousness.

   3. Notice whether she is shy, flustered, or giggling. If she seems shy, is slurring her speech, or is saying "umm" or "hmm" a lot, it's probably a sign that she's nervous. If she needs to think about simple sentences longer than it normally takes her, that also tells you she's nervous. Nervous mostly likely means crush.

   4. Pay attention to fidgeting. Does she fidget? When she's around you, does she start fidgeting with things around her, like fixing clothes, or playing with her cell phone, or wringing her hands?

   5. Figure out who she looks at or talks to in conversation. In conversation, she will either focus on you, or if she is shy around you (which is good), she will try to have a third person to make it seem less conspicuous. In this case, though, she will still focus on you, and return to making you the center of conversation.
   However, some girls try very hard to avoid letting their crush know they like them. If she is one of those girls, you could find her avoiding you in conversation all the time and get the wrong idea. Don't base your conclusion solely on this evidence.

   6. Pay attention "awwing" and "ohhing". If a girl says "awwww" after you do something, it's usually a sign that she is trying to flirt with you. She does this because she thinks you're cute and wants you to know it. She may do this after you cough, trip, or say something cute.

9. 7. If you happen to pass her, pay attention to what she does. If she likes you, then she might give you a smile, it can be big or small, depending on how shy the girl is. She might also hurry past you and give you a little grin, which might mean she is shy around you, which is a good thing. Or she might just start talking to you.

•  If a girl likes you, she'll go really quiet when you approach her when she has her friends with her. She might feel awkward talking to her friends with you listening because she likes you.
• Ask her how she is when you go up to her. If she likes you, she will attempt to keep you talking longer. If she seems happy talking to you even when you're discussing something like the weather, her head is definitely on cloud nine!

   8. Recall if she ever stares at you. Try and catch her staring and give her a smile. If you do catch her, note her reaction. Does she look away immediately? That's a good sign. Does she smile and/or blush? Another good sign.

9. Read the really obvious signs of flirting. The signs we've just been over are pretty tame and sometimes hard to interpret. The following signs are no-brainers that she likes you and much more clear. If you see her doing any of these, ask her out right away if you like her back! Does she:

•     Constantly touch you? Does she always touch your shoulder when she's making a point. Does she take your hand into hers? Does she rub your back while smiling at you?
•       Tickle or tease you? Does she come up behind you and tickle you where she knows you're sensitive? Or does she tease you in a playful way about something you're really good at?
•     Ask you to dance or sit next to her at school? An invitation to dance is almost always more than just an invitation, and sitting next to you in the classroom or at lunch is a sure bet, too.

Part 2 of 3: Signs When Talking To Her

1.Note how you two were introduced. If she arranges to have a friend introduce you two, she wants to get to know you, which probably means she has a crush on you.

   2. Recall if she makes up odd excuses just to talk to you. This might give you a chuckle if you recognize it, but it's something to be flattered by. If she is feeling bold, she'll enter into your space by starting a random conversation. Here are some ones girls (and guys) use all the time:
   "Hey, I forgot my notebook, do you remember what homework was?" She might have actually forgot her books, but she chose to ask you about homework.
   "Can you help me out with this problem? I have no idea what's going on here."This is especially significant if she is a good student. Why would a good student need homework help?
   "Can you hold my backpack/sit with my stuff for me? It's really heavy/a lot to carry!" Girls plan ahead on almost everything. Why would she bring too much stuff to school if she couldn't carry it?

   3. Figure out if she is the one to start conversation. If a girl initiates the conversation, this is a major sign that she is into you. Girls usually wait for the guy to come over to her, so this is a really good sign for you.

4. Notice what she does on social media. If chatting with a girl on Myspace or Facebook, take a look at the time it takes her to write a message (it will show the blue, "..." speech bubble). Then look at how long the message actually is. If she's writing a more heartfelt message and it takes her five minutes to write three lines, it's a good sign that she's taking the time to make sure that her response is appealing.

•   Does she use smiley faces or other emoticons a lot? She could be trying to tell you something.
•   Is she always sending you messages, videos, updates, etc.? A steady stream of communication means that she really values your thoughts and wants to you to be thinking of her most of the time.
•   Does she say things like "Do you think I look fat?" or "I think I look ugly" because more then likely she's not only looking for your opinion but phishing for compliments to see what you think of her

   5. Figure out if she's joking around with you. Is she a jokester around you? Do you two have inside jokes that she refers to all the time? These are pretty clear signs that she's into you.

   If you're playing it cool and not being too obvious as to how much you like this girl, she may think you are only interested in her as a friend. In this case, she could find trivial ways to mention how she talks to all those "other guys", the guys who always try to get a date with her. While she may have a ton of adoring male fans, she also has her eye set on winning you over. She is trying to make you jealous.

   7. Don't be afraid to hug her if you are good friends with her! If you are about to leave, say goodbye and casually give her a hug. It will leave a great impression, and show that you want to get close to her.

   8. If a girl really likes you, don't wait for her to tell you so. Girls don't like confronting their feelings with a guy they're just getting to know. It's still traditional for the guy to make the first move.
5. Part 3 of 3: Signs When Online or Texting
   1. 1. Watch for her updates about game playing. Games can be a nice segue into getting closer to you. Some of the following can suggest a flirty interest in you:
        
            Is she boasting about beating your score in an online game? She might be fishing for compliments.
            Is she telling you that she lost an online game? She might want you to feel sorry for her and respond (in a joking way) "Are you okay?".
            Is she inviting you to join a shared game online? This could be her way of reeling you in and finding a neutral territory to spend more time together.

      2. Consider what she is sending you via phone or online.
                 Does she send cute pictures? She might want you to associate cute things with her so you think about her more often.
                              Is she constantly sending you song updates that hint things like "I'm listening to Are You Going To Kiss Me Or Not", or "What Is Love". She wants you to know that she likes you. If you respond with "Are you hinting at me or something?" and she says "I was just updating!", she is probably nervous that you got the hint and does not want to admit it. Do not take this the wrong way, just laugh and continue on with the conversation. However, do not leave the next text up to her. If you feel bold, make a small move or mention it the next day, she will then feel more confident knowing you were paying attention to what she was saying.
                               Does she send you cryptic texts that seem to be testing you? She might be trying to find out if you're going to reply quickly, or reply with a good sense of humor.
